On the 27th of April 2017, Shatta Wale’s much-awaited video (the tagged most expensive video – “Gringo” of him yet) was released on Youtube.
Before the video was seen on youtube, the most anticipated video debuted on the label’s video on demand platform Zylofoncash.com.
Gringo by Shatta Wale was supposed to be that ‘cool video’ that will increase viewers and numbers for the platform (Zylofon cash).
This is how ‘VOD’ works, the more viewers an artiste gets on his / her video or content, the more revenue they generate.
After three (3) months of ‘Gringo’, this is how the two platforms; youtube and Zylofoncash.com fared.
Youtube gives Shatta Wale and his most anticipated video, big budget and all the hype it came with 1.8 Million views while his own label’s platform, ZylofonCash.com had over 1,355 views.
On Zylofoncash.com, Shatta Wale bags home a cool GHS 35 with the above views. (Revenue is displayed openly on the site). We don’t know about youtube revenue yet.
The twist here is, should artistes on the label push their products (music and videos) on their platform – zylofoncash.com?
How does that affect the artistes signed unto the label in terms of positioning?
