Head of Communications and Public Events George Quaye, has stated Shatta Wale is welcome to attend the VGMAs since it is a public event.
Shatta Wale in a radio interview stated he would attend the VGMAs whether he was nominated or not.
In an exclusive interview with Muse Africa, George Quaye stated Shatta Wale was free to attend the event once he purchased a ticket.
“Its (VGMAs) is a public event, everybody is invited. Once he purchases ticket he is welcome6.”
The Board hasn’t decided yet if Shatta Wale’s indefinite ban from the event would be lifted but the last time Shatta Wale attended the Ghana music awards was in 2014, where he threw a public tantrum after missing out an Award. He won the coveted Artiste of the year the following year and was later banned from subsequent editions after disrespecting CharterHouse organizers of the annual Ghana Music Awards.
