Remember when Koo Ntakra said in an interview on e.TV’s The Late Night Celebrity Show that radio stations should stop playing songs by Sarkodie and Shatta Wale?
Well the rapper has come out to explain what he had said earlier on Etv, in an interview with Andy Dosty on Day Break Hitz on Hitz Fm the rapper said what he had said earlier was misinterpreted and that what he meant was that other up and coming acts like himself needs more support and also have great content and delivery in their songs which needs more support and airplay. He later said that Sarkodie and Shatta Wale paved the way for other fast rising talents like himself.
“Sarkodie and Shatta Wale paved the way for us. I can’t call for the stoppage of playing of their songs” he said. I did not say anywhere that the playing of Sarkodie and Shatta Wale’s songs should be stopped. We also need airplay and support the rapper said.
Koo Ntakra who was the winner of the second edition of MTN Hitmaker released his 17-track album titled ‘KOK’ in October, 2017 at a massive launch in Koforidua. The album features Edem, D-Cryme, Choirmaster, Yaa Pono, among others believes if he had more airplay on radio stations his album would stand the test of time and compete with the likes of Sarkodie and Shatta Wale.
Do you think up and coming acts receive less airplay on radio and TV?
