My single Ebi You was inspired by a gospel song – Ama Slay

US-based Ghanaian singer Ama Slay has revealed her single Ebi You was actually inspired by some lines from a gospel song.

Ebi You is a love song from Ama Slay featuring rapper Ko-Jo Cue, with a video that definitely grabs your attention.

In an exclusive chat with Muse Africa, Ama Slay revealed that while listening to a gospel record, the lines “can I have your attention, I don’t mean to waste your time.”

“So I started getting the rhythm, and to me another week to start writing the song. Even though it is a love song, my team and I didn’t want it to be completely about love, so you will realize the single is about loving someone and wanting them even though they might be dating another person.”

On getting Ko-Jo Cue on the record, Ama Slay revealed he listened to the song courtesy of his relationship with the producer Peewezel and did a great verse on the single.

“I cried when I played the full song (with Ko-Jo Cue’s verse) to myself. I was like I really did that, I helped create that and I was proud of myself.”

Ebi You is a single by Ghanaian singer Ama Slay and it features Ghanaian rapper Ko-Jo Cue with production credits going the way of Peewezel.
