Singer-songwriter from Gqeberha (previously Port Elizabeth), Inga Hina, has released her debut album titled, Promises To Makhulu.

The 10-track body of work dedicated to her late grandmother as an ode to “make her proud” sees Inga Hina now coming into her own with an Afro-Soul infused with pop and R&B sound, that she hopes will have people focusing on her voice and her storytelling.

“Every single song, even if the story is not directly connected to her [Makhulu], came to be because of who she is to me. From love songs, where I speak of patience and unconditional love, to songs that could have easily been songs of defeat, but somehow turned out to be anthems of strength,” expresses Inga Hina.

Raised by her late grandmother in Gqeberha in the Eastern Cape, Inga Hina’s upbringing was one filled with lots of music. “I was privileged to be introduced to all kinds of music early on in my childhood, this has entrenched in me an appreciation for simple, yet meaningful and relatable storytelling,” shares Inga Hina.

It is this upbringing that allows Inga Hina to create material that is honest and authentic which she is hopeful will resonate with all music lovers.
