The house that legendary Nigerian producer Don Jazzy built has a new member.

“We are on a mission to develop global hitmakers. That’s why we say hello world, meet our new artist @ayrastarr,” reads a tweet by the official handle of the imprint.

The introductory video finds Starr sitting on the hood of a car in its opening scene. Other scenes show her in a recording studio with Jazzy,

“I am one of those kids searching for purpose. I think about the stories I want to tell, about family, about love,” says Starr in the video.

“I want everyone to be heard. To tell their stories. To say all the things that words alone can’t explain.”

The video ends with ‘Ayra Starr’ written in bold on the screen, and ‘E.P OUT Tonight’ below it.

Mavins Records prides itself on being “Africa’s leading music company.” It is home to the likes of Dr. Sid, Rema, and Korede Bello.

Wande Coal, Tiwa Savage, and Reekado Banks were previously signed to the label behind some of the biggest songs released by African artistes.
