Ghanaian reggae and dancehall superstar Stonebwoy has proved he is the darling boy of Ghanaian radio as the most played Ghanaian artiste in 2020.
He had 9,817 spins with eight songs representing 14.5% of total airplay as revealed on Muse Bangers of the Year 2020 – a multi-platform music initiative instituted to highlight the songs that dominated the Ghanaian radio landscape for the year 2020.
The initiative also looked to reiterate the power and relevance of radio platforms in shaping the taste of consumers and amplifying the works of music talents.
Stonebwoy’s highest charting song ‘Nominate’ featuring Keri Hilson sits at number 3 with 2382 spins on over 80 stations across the country reaching over 15 million people.
He has two other songs in the top 10 list list – ‘Sobolo’ at number five with 2151 spins and ‘Putuu Freestyle (Pray) at number eight with 1827 spins.
The second most played artist is KiDi, who racked in 91, 856 spins with 6 songs including the number 1 & 2 songs of 2020.
Making the top 5 most played artists include Sarkodie (3152 spins), Mr Drew (2699 spins) and Fameye (2532 spins.)
A two-hour immersive show hosted by Antoine Mensah aired on partner radio stations, Asaase Radio 99.5 in Accra, Pure 95.7 FM in Kumasi, and on Empire 102.7 FM in Takoradi over five consecutive days between Saturday, December 26 to Wednesday, December 30, 2020.
The show featured tastemakers and stakeholders in the Ghanaian music space, sharing their hot takes on the songs and artists who made the charts.
Muse Bangers of the Year 2020 focused on songs released between January 1st and November 30th, 2020. The data size covered over 8, 000 songs that have been tagged and tracked by the artificial intelligence platform built by technology partner for the initiative, GHUD Music, and covering several genres.
