The new album features acts like Fireboy DML, Bella Shumrda, Omah Lay, Peruzzi, Phyno and Bad Boy Timz.
Carpe Diem is Olamide’s first album since aligning his YBNL Nation with US-based EMPIRE.
Speaking to Okay Africa, Olamide revealed the project was a reflection of his state of mind and the curret sound brewing from the underground in Nigeria.
“It’s a combination of a lot of traditional elements and also a sound from Nigeria called galala, which has a little bit of reggae/dancehall [influences].” Olamide went on to say, “It’s also a fusion of something we call Celestial, which is when you are playing secular music in church. It’s like taking pop to the church.”
Olamide is currently one of the heavyweight players on the Nigerian music scene and is noted for his ability to rap and sing stories in English, Yoruba, and Pidgin.
Carpe Diem explores different kinds of sounds, and it’s definitely one that can that Olamide fans and music lovers need to pay attention to.
