Three reasons why you should be excited about Burna Boy’s Twice As Tall album

Grammy nominated Nigeria Singer and Songwriter Burna Boy is releasing his fifth studio album a year after releasing his fourth studio (African Giant) album which earned him a nod at the Grammys.

African Giant The album received generally favourable reviews from music critics, who called it cohesive and praised Burna Boy for not diluting his sound.

With African Giant receiving much praise many fans set the standards high for Burna Boy when he announced the release of his next album on 31st March after losing out to Angeliqe Kidjo at the Grammys.

Burna Boy has so far released the official track-list for the album with very few features as compared to African Giant which had more than five features.

Twice As Tall releasing tomorrow will feature UK British Rapper Stormzy, Chris Martin (Cold Play), Sauti Sol, Naughty By Nature and Youssou N’Dour.

Now that we have muc information about the album let’s move to three reasons why you should look forward to Burna Boy’s fifth studio album and probably his last before his two year break from music.

1 – Twice As Tall will be Executive Produced by Diddy

For “Twice as Tall,” Burna Boy enlisted Grammy-Award winning American executive producer: Sean Combs, a.k.a. Diddy, who has long guided rappers and singers (most famously the Notorious B.I.G. and Mary J. Blige) toward wider audiences.

According to the New York Times, most of the album was recorded during the pandemic, and Burna Boy and Combs collaborated across an eight-hour time difference via frequent Zoom calls and file transfers. Combs brought in musical contributions including drums from Anderson.Paak on the foreboding “Alarm Clock” and additional production from Timbaland on “Wetin Dey Sup,” a song punctuated by gunshots and sirens that warns, “They only respect the money and the violence.”

Combs also makes his presence audible with voice-over intros on some songs, briefly upstaging Burna Boy.

2 – Guest Appearances on the album

For his last album, Burna Boy gave fans a mix of everything with hius features and more surprisingly some big names appaeaing on the album such as Damian Marley, American Rappers YG, & Future, Angelique Kidjo and of course Ghana’s very own M.anifest.

Twice As Tall also has incredible and some great features more surprisingly American HipHop Duo Naughty By Nature who are popuylarly known for thier early 90s classic hit ‘HipHop Hooray’, ‘OPP’ and ‘Feel Me Flow’.

Naughty By Nature features on the seventh track of the album which is named after the group.

Burna Boy and British Platinum recording Rapper Stormzy collaborated on ‘Own It’ which became an instant hit across the globe and had fans calling for more collabs between the two artistes. Burna, however, paid attention to the cry of his audience and grabbed Stormzy to feature on titled ‘Real Life’ and much is expected of the song as it will be the second collaboration between the two artists.

English singer, songwriter, musician, record producer Chris Martin who is the lead singer for British Rock band also makes a guest appearance on Twice As Tall and much is expected from Chris Martin as he best known for his amazing and soothing voice.

One feature that was not really expected from the album is from Senegalese singer, songwriter, composer Youssou N’Dour who has in his career so far released thirty nine (39) albums.

Youssou N’Dour is best known internationally for his trilingual “7 Seconds“, a duet song with Neneh Cherry and also wrote and performed the official anthem of the 1998 FIFA World Cup with Axelle Red “La Cour des Grands”.

Kenyan Afro-Pop band Sauti Sol also features on Twice As Tall on a song titled ‘Time Flies’ and it’s a song I am personally looking forward to knowing how good the Kenyan band are.

Formed in 2005, the band has since grown to become one of the most successful musical acts in Africa and it’s only right they connected with the ‘African Giant’ for his fifth studio album.

3 – Burna Boy’s last album before a Two-year break

With many fans so excited and looking forward to Burna Boy’s fifth studio album, many are yet to realize this might be the last time they will get to listen to a full length album from ‘Oluwa’ Burna.

On April 29, 2020, Grammy-nominated Nigerian Singer Burna Boy surprised fans on social media after he announced he will be taking a break from music for two years.

In a Snapchat post, the ‘Wonderful’ singer stated that the break will include music, social media, and videos and it will last till he is 31.

He, however, added that he may still go on tours so that is something at least to cheer you up because if you have seen Burna Boy perform live, trust me you would definitely pay any amount to witness his energy and stage craft with my favorite being the dance moves.

No one knows what will happen within the two year break, but this is a sign that Burna Boy’s Twice As Tall is a special package from Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu Rex – Burna Boy’s real name.

Twice As Tall drops at midnight across all platforms and get ready to jam to this latest gift from the African Giant.
