In an interview on The Big Talk on Muse Africa, hosted by Yaw Boadu-Ayeboafoh
He revealed he initially tinkered with the name Nyame Nipa but was advised by Cwesi Oteng to change it, into a name that could be easily pronounced by foreigners.
Hence MOG is a literal translation of Nyame Nipa which means Man of God (MOG).
“I wanted to coin something for myself that is unique in the gospel fraternity. So I decided to go for Nyame Nipa and I was advised by my big brother Cwesi Oteng that when you travel abroad and they want to invite you for work, it’s not going to work…”
Even with the name some fans wanted MOG Music to change his name due to the resemblance in name with multiple award winning producer MOG Beatz.
MOG admitted it took a toll in the initial stages due to the popularity of MOG Beatz but he decided not to change his name but maintain and do what he was doing.
“I took up this name (MOG Music) somewhere 2011/2012 and fortunately for me I was behind the scenes preparing to show up, at the time I was ready to come out, he had started making waves on the shoulders of some of the big names in the industry.”
MOG Music is currently promoting his single Jesus, which is a major lead single for his upcoming album ‘Experience.
