A misunderstanding is a very natural thing that exists amongst two people, whether they are related or not.
Also natural is the misunderstanding that occurs between people in similar industry. So why don’t we take a look at the top 5 ‘beefs’ in the Ghanaian music industry since the past 5 years.
First is the very popular and just ended beef between two Reggae/dancehall acts, Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy. This beef was one of the longest beefs in the country which evolved into so many phases and finally ended with pulling of guns during the 2019 VGMA ceremony.
Coming after the first is Sarkodie and Manifest beef. This was one of the most interesting beefs in the rap game with these two renowned rap artists going at each other.
As one tagged the other with local rapper and the other Kaba. Though these two have reconciled, Ghanaians can’t forget. They have released one of their biggest “Brown Paper Bag” people are still comparing their verses on the song for argument purposes.
Next beef in the Ghanaian music industry is the Shatta wale vs Sarkodie beef, which still continues. Though no one knows exactly what may have sparked this misunderstanding, all is known is Shatta Wale constantly referring to Sarkodie as broke. Sarkodie also replied Shatta Wale with his advise song which sent the beef to another level.
Shatta Wale who never released a diss record to Sarkodie after his advise has since then been throwing shots at Sarkodie. With Shatta Movement and SarkNatives responding accordingly.
Also king of beefs witnessed in Ghana is Strongman-Medikal beef.
This all started when Medikal said sometime back that he saved the Ghanaian rap industry 4 years ago. Strongman who was then very vibrant in the rap game decided to reply Medikal’s comment which started the beef.
This was one of the best beefs because it was strictly a lyrically beef with fans strictly adhering to the time scheduled diss songs.
Social media was set on fire till these two reconciled with their BOSSU collaboration.
The women in the industry were also not left out. Recently, Sista Afia started a lyrical war with Freda Rhymz and Eno Barony which kept Ghanaians on the edge for the records being dropped.
This beef truly revived the females in the rap industry and metamorphosed to various phases, lyrically, emotionally to physically.
