Ghanaian comedian Ajeezay (real name Nathaniel Mensah) has revealed he is the first person to shoot a skit in Ghana.
Comedy Skit became part of the Ghanaian comedy scene some years ago, with Boys Kasa starring Ahuofe Patri and Kalybos, directed by Kofi Asamoah being the most popular skit series in Ghana.
Boys Kasa propelled all three personality into stardom.
However, some people perceive it as the first comic skit shot in Ghana due to its popularity, however, the Nonfa King Ajeezay has laid claims to being the first Ghanaian in Ghan to shoot a comedy skit.
In an exclusive interview with Muse Africa, Ajeezay stated he started shooting skits before the like of Boys Kasa and others came into the system.
He detailed how he moved from starting his comedy on social media to adding Skits to his craft.
“…Then I started shooting skits. So I started skits before the rest. Kalybos and all that I started (skits before them. I am the one who shot the first skit in Ghana.” He said.
Ajeezay further revealed Ghanaians were enjoying theatric comedy at the time he released his first skit and it took months to a year before the rest joined him to do skits.
“At a point what we were enjoying was Romanus – that stage thing they did. That was what Ghana was enjoying. I then dropped my first skit and it took months to a year before I saw Boys Kasa with Kalybos and Ahuofe Patri doing theirs.”
The Nonfa King as Ajeezay is popularly called has done wordplay comedy for 8 years and he’s the only Ghanaian comedian doing that type of comedy in Ghana.
