Mr. Eazi reveals he rejected a $6 million label imprint deal in 2018

Nigerian Singer and Business mogul Oluwatosin Ajibade, better known by his stage name Mr Eazi speaking to Billboard revealed how he rejected a huge million dollar label contract.

The “Dabebi” hit-maker when asked by Billboard if African Artiste are making good money from their music then revealed how he rejected the deal in 2018 and also how much he earned from his first record label.

Speaking to Billboard he said: “I remember my first deal in 2016 was 400,000 pounds [$522,068, adjusted for inflation] for three albums. It’s becoming more evident that the numbers are rising. I was about to sign a huge label imprint deal in 2018 for about $6 million but didn’t. Now I’m having a different conversation with the same people.”

The Nigerian singer has since set up Empawa Africa a talent incubation initiative designed to nurture and support up-and-coming African artists with a budget ranging from $10,000.

Beneficiaries of this project by Mr Eazi are Ghana’s very own Reggae/Dancehall Singer J.Derobie and Nigerian Singer Joeboy.
